Yates
A funeral for Lester Lee Yates of Sperryville was conducted Tuesday at Thornton Gap Primitive Baptist Church, Sperryville by the Elder E. S. Skeen. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper.
Mr. Yates, 88, a retired rural mail carrier and a farmer, died Saturday, December 1, 1979 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late William Rufus Yates and the late Tillie Ryan Yates.
He was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association and Thornton Gap Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Auker Yates, and two daughters from this marriage. Miss Janet Edna Yates, of Middletown and Miss Lois Yates of Newport New$. From his first marriage to the late Kathleen Hudson Yates, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Curry of Woodstown, N.J.; and a son, William Hudson Yates, Sr., of Roanoke. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Eva Brubaker of Sperryville, and five grandchildren.
