Runners in the second annual Fodderstack Classic Road Race will leave the starting line at 10 a.tn. this coming Saturday, April 19, in Flint Hill. Contestants will follow the six mile course to Washington, crossing the finish in front of the court house.
Highlight of this year’s running will be the awarding of the Eva L. Smith Memorial Trophy to the first Rappahannock County resident who finishes. The trophy is given in honor of the former deputy clerk of the court who was instrumental in originating the Fodderstack Classic.
In* addition to the
memorial, trophies will be presented to the first three finishfccs in separate men and women's divisions for runners 12 years and younger, 13 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over.
Original trophies have been made again this year by Sperryville potter Jeanne Drevas and donated by local businesses.
