“Firm power means that in the event you lose one of two lines, the other is capable of carrying the full load,” Nichols explained. Total capacity on two lines is 20.000 kilowatts, he said. “However, we have reason to assume that we will lose one line from time to time," Nichols said, noting that this has happened already three times this year.
“Based on firm power and growth estimates, what we have will carry the county for another five years until the demand reaches 9,000 kilowatts,” he stated.
