All the members of the Rappahannock planning commission were on hand Monday night along with John Capelle, executive director of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission, for the last of the community meetings on the county’s first comprehensive plan.
Although scheduled at the last minute, the Antissville meeting drew the largest audience, 13 area residents, of the six sessions. Capelle estimated that approximately 50 total attended the series which was designed to solicit opinions on the draft plan from local citizens.
Following a review of the plan by Capelle and suggestions from the audience, the planners voted unanimously to advertise the comprehensive plan for a county-wide public hearing on Thursday. May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the court house in Washington.
Following this hearing by the planners, the document will be forwarded to the board of supervisors for a second hearing and adoption.
In comments made at the Amissville meeting, Capt. Luther Stuart asked why the plan made no mention of a water and sewer study on Rappahannock completed about 12 years ago.
