Great Start

Rappahannock’s junior varsity Panthers began their season on the right foot last Thursday, demolishing the Culpeper Blue Devils 11 to 4.
The Panthers drew first blood in the second inning with two runs and then blasted away in the third with nine to lead 11 to 0.
The Blue Devils finally scored in the fifth to prevent a runaway and keep the score semi-respectable at 11-4.
Mike Leake was credited with the win after pitching the first four innings before Mike Brown was put in as substitute.
Then on Friday, the JV capped the home opener with a win on the road, 10 to 6, over the Luray Bulldogs.
The Panthers quickly scored two runs in the first inning and broke the game open again in the third, sending eight batters around the bases and across home plate.
Rappahannock shut down rallys by the Bulldogs in the second and fourth to protect their lead. Mike Leake got his second win before being replaced on the mound by Mike Brown.
Early Dismissal
Classes in Rappahannock public schools will be dismissed at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 18. The visiting state evaluation team on high school accreditation will give its final report to the faculty at that time.
