Jelly Roll Morton’s real name was Ferninand LeMenthe, and when he said he invented jazz, he was probably right. He was the genius who took ragtime and made it hot. The Red Hot Peppers, his first orchestral creation is said to be the finest New Orleans Band that ever recorded.
When you join the Community Concert Association now for the 1980’81 season, Mrs. Paul M. Frantz your county chairman, says you may be able to see the May 4 concert by paying $2.00 extra for adults, $1.00 per child, or $5.00 extra for the whole family, to the cost of your membership. There will be someone outside the auditorium to give you your admittance slip. Be sure to bring your check stub or your receipt.
Headquarters will be set up during the closing days of the campaign (April 21-24) at the Presbyterian church in Culpeper, in case you have not been contacted, or contact your county chairman.
Membership tickets are mailed in the fall, and admittance is only through membership. Family memberships for the entire family are $30.00 for the three concerts; $12.00 for adult member; $6.00 for student; $18.00 for single head of household with children; and $50.00 for Patrons.
