In a telephone interview with Delegate George Beard on Tuesday, Rappahannock's representative in Virginia’s General Assembly said he’d recently been swamped with calls from people concerned about Health Department district director Dr. R. S. LeGarde being forced into retirement. • “Nothing’s happened to Dr. LeGarde,” Beard emphasized. He blamed the confusion on a letter dated April 1 from Herbert Oglesby, assistant commissioner of the state Health Department. “That letter’s been misinterpreted in all five counties (in LeGarde’s district),” said Beard.
