But those 12 months of living with a verdict of terminal cancer weren’t spent in gloom. “We were really happy. After hearing the doctor’s diagnosis, I didn't think it would be possible to laugh again, to go on and not think about it, but we did. Even though it was always with us from the medicine Steve had to take, even though it was always in the , back of our minds, we l weren’t really sad,” Pat , recalled.
