To qualify to vote, an individual must be a citizen of the U.S., 18 years of age as of November 4 and a resident of the precinct in which they vote as of October 4. Persons formerly registered but who have not voted at least once in the past four years have been purged from the voters lists and must reregister in order to cast their ballot on November 4.
Those coming to register do not need a birth certificate or any other type of documentation but must know their social security number, according to Mrs. Atkins.
