Can She Bake

A Pie?

Can she bake a cherry pie? We’re not sure about cherry but she’s a prize winner when it comes to peach, pecan and pumpkin.

That is Mrs. Paul Poling of Amissville who was a prize winner with her baked goods entered in the Prince William Fair at Manassas.

Gertie captured the blue ribbon and best in show with her peach pie. The pecan pie took a first also; the pumpkin a second; biscuits a second; and her banana bread, third. ‘‘My whole wheat bread, which I thought the best of all. didn’t get anything.” she said.

Other prizes harvested by Mrs. Poling included a first for whole canned tomatoes; a secod for whole canned beans and ablue ribbon on her decorated egg in the crafts department.
