Registrar Ruth Kilby and her deputy, Marjorie Atkins, will be at the six Rappahannock voting precincts beginning Friday. August 22, to register voters for the November 4 elections.
The special registration hours have been scheduled in response to requests from the community, according to Mrs. Atkins. Last year, she recalled, the registrars held extra hours at the courthouse office in Washington but only a handful of people showed up. “Two years ago, Mary Cleverley went out to all the princincts but with limited response there too,” Mrs. Atkins said. “There’s more interest now, more people working,” she added.
The deputy registrar stressed that qualified voters may register at any of the six precincts. “Just because you live in Woodville doesn’t mean you have to wait until we come to Woodville,” she said.
Additional dates to register will be August 22 at the Amissville fire hall; August 29 at Chester Gap fife hall; September 5 at Washington in the courthouse; September
