Rigorous Workouts
His days start and end with polo. By 5:30, the two are at Fannon’s barn, ready for the morning training sessions. After a time out for rest during the heat of summer afternoons, they’re back in the saddle until evening.
Fannon and Marcos flew to Montana recently where they traveled from ranch to ranch, checking out cow ponies as polo prospects. They came back with nine, all quarter horses experienced at cutting heifers from a herd who had never seen a polo mallet in their lives. "But they’d been used for roping for about three years so they were accustomed to having things swing around their heads,” Marcos noted.
