Dear Editor:

Mr. William Carrigan should be recognized as a dedicated supporter of this local community for his continued contribution of the fireworks display at the' annual 4th of July celebration in the town of Washington.

This fantastic show on the lawn of Avon Hall attracts many local people, as well as out-of-town guests, and helps . to sustain the financial livelihood of small town businesses, as well as individual crafts people.

Thank you again, Mr. Carrigan, for your interest and support of our local community.

Community Bible

School Planned

A community Bible School for all denominations in the Washington and Flint Hill areas is scheduled for Monday through Friday July 20-24 at the Washington Baptist Church. School hours are 9 to 12 each day. Youngsters in the area are invited to attend.

Dean’s List

Cadet William C. Nichols, Flint Hill, is among 243 Virginia Military Institute cadets who have been named to the dean’s list for the second semester of the school year.

Cadet Nichols, a rising first classman, is a civil engineering major at VMI where he is a second lieutenant in the VMI Corps of Cadets and is enrolled in the Navy ROTC program. He recently was elected a member of the Hop Committee which schedules the major dance weekends during the school session. A 1978 graduate of Rappahannock County High School, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Nichols, of Flint Hill.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, a cadet must have an average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all subjects with no grade below 2.0.

WBC Service

The Rev. Clyde Melton of Culpeper will be the speaker for the 11 o’clock worship service at the Washington Baptist Church on Sunday, July 5 and Sunday, July 12.
