The preview of the exhibit was supplemented not only by good company but also by good food served in the atrium of the gallery. The sports theme was carried over in the type of refreshments served; hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, as well as dishes not associated with the sporting life; pate de foi gras, various cheeses, raw vegetables, crepes and omelets.
The food was outdone only by the “black tie” attire with the men, women and children who- attended -the function dressed in every type of garb that one could vaguely regard as "formal”.
Most of the participants were impressed with the exhibit and delighted by the opportunity to meet and associate with each and every sports personality. The event was enriching and enlightening not only because of the champions present in person but because of the sports heros captured on film.
Champions of American Sport took three years to assemble and will be at the National Portrait Gallery until September 7.
Bridge Group
Mrs. Emory Russell entertained the Flint Hill Bridge Club at her home Monday evening when prize winners included Mary Curtis, Breezy Gannon, Aney Massie and Louise Eastham.
Others playing were Lucy Wood. Edna Moore, Fisher Burford, Beverly Massie, Mary R. Miller, Kay Browning, Mary Latham and Eileen Leighty.
