On the recommendation of superintendent Robert Estabrook, the Rappahannock school board last week implemented the sick leave bank requested in March by the Rappahannocak County Education Association.
The action to set up the bank on a one year trial came on a split vote with Robert Eastham and Nelson Lane opposed.
Modeled after similar policies in effect in Frederick County and Winchester City school divisions, the bank provides for teachers who have exhausted their personal sick leave to draw from the pool and is intended to provide additional protection for personnel faced with catastrophic illness.
