Estabrook noted that there is no problem now with excessive use of sick leave and empahsized that his recommendation for adoption of the pool concept in no way reflects doubt in the school board’s compassion. (In earlier discussions. Eastham had suggested that teachers who have exhausted personal sick leave and are faced with catastrophic illness ask the board for an extension of leave.)
At last Tuesday’s meeting, Eastham announced that he couldn’t “vote for collectivism of any kind" and maintained that establishment of a voluntary sick leave bank will result in some form of coercion to push teachers
