The town was to
elect a mayor and six
councilmen, but unfortunately. no candidates qualified for the offices, requiring a write-in vote. The outgoing mayor; Mrs. Wallace Critzer. stated that she would not seek election nor would she accept the office under any condition. For the past 12 years the council was made up entirely of women. With 33 write-in votes. Mrs. Dorothy C. Davis was elected as Mayor along with a council made up entirely of women. Mrs. Davis previously held this position in 1950 when the first all-woman slate of offices was elected.
Tom Frost car dealership in Warrenton was selling a 1958 Dodge Half Ton Pick-up for $995 as well as a 1962 Ford truck for $1,095. The ’62 Ford included such luxuries as a V-8 engine, standard transmission and a heater.

from Longwood College along with 345 others. She received a B.S. in Business Education. Lyle and Francis Updike, twin brothers from Washington, graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Lyle received a B.S. in Animal Science whereas Francis received a B.S. in Business Administration. They were both 1963 graduates of RCHS.
