In requiring the new equipment as a condition for a grant award, federal government officials want to make sure that the dental facility meets their standards, Einarson told the supervisors. “Our old donated equipment had rusty spots. It was still usable but patients might have thought it was dirty,” he added.

As of this Monday, no word had been received from the State Compensation Board regarding pay raises for sheriff’s department personnel. Salary increases for other constitution officers are 4.5 percent in the 1982-83 budget, the amount approved by the Compensation Board.

All county employees whose salaries aren’t set by the state will get the same seven and a half percent pay raise awarded to Rappahannock teachers and school personnel, the supervisors noted.

At the June 7 public hearing on the proposed budget, the supervisors again made a request that treasurer Frances Foster secure the highest interest rate available when investing county funds, possibly asking for bids from both banks in Rappahannock
