$9,900 to finish

off the fiscal year. The money was borrowed on June 30 and was later repaid through the 1950 taxes. Part of these additional funds went to obtaining a county health nurse.

My Rappahannock Story Book, written by Mary Elizabeth Hite, came off the press and was available for sale starting June. 1950. The book contains intimate stories, anecdotes, romances and much hitherto unpublished material on the old homes and families of Rappahannock County. The book is composed of three parts: pictures, old churches and their ministers and miscellaneous stories.

The replica of the Liberty Bell was in Washington during June. 1950. The replica toured the state of Virginia as the symbol of the Independent Savings Bond drive which urges people to “Save for your Independence.”
