The Amissville Ruritan Club held its monthly meeting Wednesday, June 9, at the Amissville Baptist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Holschuh of Castleton were guest speakers and gave a very pictorial and informative slide show of their recent trip to Alaska. The Ruritans finalized their preparations for the club’s 21st annual barbecue to be held on Saturday, July 3, at the Amissville Volunteer fire department hall. Advance tickets are now on

Ten Girl Scouts from Rappahannock County are among the crowds of people who welcomed President Ronald Reagan back to the U. S. at Andrews Air Force Base last Friday. The Scouts, representing junior troops 323 and 547, brownie troop 312 and cadet troop 502, were accompanied by leader Tanya Richey.

Honor Roll
Lynn Wood Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wayne Jones of Sperryville has been named to the Honor Roll at St. Mary’s College in Raleigh for the past spring semester.
Lynn, an 11th grader at St. Mary’s, was one of 69 high school students named to the Honor Roll at the four-year intermediate college for women. To be eligiHe for the Honor Roll, a student must maintain at least a 3.0 (“B”) average of a possible 4.0.
Recipes Sought
The Rappahannock County Woman’s Club invites all local cooks who haven’t yet contributed a recipe for the club’s cookbook to pick up a recipe form at the Beauty Box in Washington or from cookbook committee chairman Vickie Eastham.
The cookbook, which will include sketches of historical county homes as well as the secrets from Rappahannock's kitchens, will be published this spring.
