Gross income and farm production expenses for Virginia farmers will reach record highs in 1982 according to figures released today from the office of the Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Net fam\ income for 1982 will be about $167 million.
The gross farm income is predicted to be $1,993 billion, up 1.4 percent from 1981; total farm production expenses of $1,845 biliion are also up 1.4 percent.
Relative bright spots among the prices received by farmers were for sheep and lambs, turkeys, tobacco, apples and peaches. Other prices received by farmers throughout 1982 were generally below those received in 1981.
Virginia’s livestock sector showed production strengths (1982 compared to 1981) for several principal enterprises.
