In testimony at last month’s public hearing, three types of ranges—safety, impact and skeet and trap—were discussed, said commissioner Werner Krebser. “Your amendment doesn’t address a specific type of range. It leaves it wide open," he told Luke.
The attorney maintained that it doesn’t matter whether or not the amendment specifies what type of range will be permitted as long as it stipulates that the range must be constructed so as to prevent the escape of any projectiles. The designations are “just labels,” he said. Luke argued that any type of range could be constructed and still not ' pose a hazard as long as the range is built to the safety parameters set out in the proposed amendment.
