Elizabeth H. Haskell has come to the County more recently. She has served eight years as a member of Virginia’s air pollution regulatory board and is a consultant on environmental policy and public administration. Her book is titled The Politics of Clean Air. The protagonists are the coal companies, the utility industry and the federal agencies involved in regulating, as proscribed, to maintain clean air. The conflicts arise within the governmental process and the need to present a case of clear logic, mathematically defined in order to protect the environment from special interest groups.
