A record of 17 losses and only a single win is nothing to cheer about. But while Teresa McLawhorn, the irrepressible coach of the Lady Panthers. isn’t cheering, she’s at least found a few bright spots to point out after her second season at RCHS. "The girls came a long way. They’ve gained skills. They were a very young group when the year started (two freshman and three junior starters and two senior reserves). They just haven t learned how to win. That will come with experience," the Panther mentor said.
"The girls got very, very depressed and they got very, very frustrated, It’s hard to get up for a game and then lose and lose and lose,” she acknowledged. “But if they hadn’t gotten so frustrated, they could have learned a lot more."
The Lady Panthers put on a better show than their 1-17 record indicates. “We lost two district games by one point, an overtime game by two points and another game by two points. We wouldn’t have lost the close ones if they knew how to win,’’ McLawhorn maintained.
