The Virginia Historic Landmarks Commission, a State agency, will hold a public hearing on Monday, December 6, 1982 at 10:30 AM in the Washington Courthouse. The purpose of the hearing is to make a presentation and receive public comment on the Commission's proposal to place Sperryville Historic District on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
The boundaries for the Sperryville Historic District are defined as follows: to the north by the Thornton .River; to the south by a public access road and by the rear of the property lines of buildings fronting on Routes 522 and 1001; to the west by Route 211 and the east by a line that coincides with the position of the highway sign on Route 522 identifying the town of Sperryville. The properties within the district are found on Plate 38A in the Rappahannock County Commissioner of Revenues Office and Plate 38 for the Totten Mill House.
