Continuing with a review of development plans, Snead reported that the Group Home Partnership has purchased an additional 25 acres plus the ski area's 75 commercially zoned acres. The extra land was necessary to allow for a sewage discharge point, he said.

Snead explained that the Partnership would like to cut 10 to 15 acres from the commercially zoned tract and designate that portion as the group home site. "That’s better for us in terms of financing," he said. “We'd like to downzone the rest. We have no need for that large of a commercial site.” Ten to 15 acres of commercial property would provide all the space that the group home will need to start out as well as room for expansion, he added. "For financing, it would be better for us to have just 15 acres commercial— better for the county, too," he maintained.

“I think so,” Miller agreed. But he stresses that the balance, if downzoned to conservation, must be kept in 50 acre lots. "That’s the law. . .I’d be in favor of downzoning if you can comply with the law.” Nothing that it will take at least nine months to get funding > through HUD, Snead assured the commissioners that development of the ski area site into a licensed adult home is “right now in the crawling stages."
