Gymnastics For Fun Class Set
A new Gymnastics for Fun class for Level III gymnasts who are not currently enrolled in the parks and recreation gymnastics program will begin Dec. 6 at the National Guard Armory from 7-8:15 p.m. Tuition will be $34 for nine week classes.
This special class is for the Level III gymnasts who did not return from last year’s program plus the Level II gymnasts who were promoted to Level III and did not return. Class emphasis will be on non-competitive gymnastics.
The program will be for the gymnast who wants to enjoy gymnastics for the sport, for self improvement or pleasure only, without any pressure to try out for competition or attempt higher skills. It will be geared more to what the individual gymnast wants to work on.
The class will move as a group from one piece of equipment to another because two other classes will be using the equipment during the same time frame.
“We have had a number of calls from parents asking for such a program because they either could not afford the time, money, or both, for their child to be on a team or just wanted a program for the child to keep up her skills and practice for personal enjoyment,” commented Donn Kuse, program coordinator for the department. “If this program is successful, we will keep it in the overall program.”
The class will be handled by Lynn Aldridge.
