The price lag on the jail renovation was marked up a little higher again this week. Supervisor Hubert Gilkey announced at Monday's board meeting that the Department of Corrections will hold the county to a requirement for electronic locks on all cell doors.
Last July, architect Hunter Spencer estimated that it would take approximately $65,000 to bring the current 24-hour lock-up to jail standards. He jumped that figure to $115,000 last month, pointing to unexpected repairs to the heating and electrical systems, installation of an access ramp for the handicapped and additional security measures
