RAPPAHANNOCK NEWS
Rappahannock Supervisors
were introduced
to Donald Ray Askew, who replaced James Skeens as the Resident Engineer of the Virginia Highway Department. “I must admit I haven’t been up many of your roads,” the new engineer said. The supervisors started right off by complaining about several Rappahannock County roads.
Elizabeth Buntin of the Welfare Department asked for the authority to make decisions about applicants of the Welfare Department’s SLH Program without having to discuss the applicants publicly.
“It’s demeaning and unethical to reveal information about people in the SLH program,” said Buntin.
Panther tales reporter Susan Latham wrote in her weekly column that the Panther team was “out of sight". The team played Elkton and won a thriller at 75-68.
Latham also reported that the faculty of RCHS had decided that gum chewing would be allowed as usual if permission was given in class by the teacher. If the new policy was abused, all gum chewing was to be abolished.
