Edward J. Clopton, a former division engineer with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, died in early November at the Perry Point Veterans Administration Hospital. He was 88.
Mr. Clopton was a former resident of Rappahannock County and the former owner of the Clopton House in Washington. A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, he served in the Army in World War I. Mr. Clopton was a charter member of University Baptist Church and a member of the Virginians of Maryland.
He is survived by his wife, the former Alexina Bell; one son, Edward J. Clopton Jr. of Levittown, Pa.; one sister, Eliza Clopton Anderson of Alexandria and four grandchildren.
