The county’s fire and rescue units do not sell detectors. "But if anyone has a question, they can call their local fire department and they should be able to get assistance,” Huff said. In addition, fire fighters have information on regular detector maintenance and developing escape plans necessary to make optimal use of the extra time the smoke alarm provides. "A smoke detector can save your life—don’t stay home without one," Huff advised, repeating the theme of the Fire and Rescue Association’s campaign.
