Camp admits that the law is “full of holes.” He expects that most of the fines for failure to observe the new law will occur when an officer stops a vehicle for another reason, or when he just happens to notice a child “crawling on the dashboard".
This law has had a great deal of support from the state police,” Camp said, “even though it will be another chore for them.” They are the ones on the front lines - the ones who see the tragic accidents that could have been prevented.”
Failure to observe the new law will be a civil offense, with a fine of $25 attached. The money from fines will be tised to purchase and provide seats for those unable to buy them.
