Another entry has stepped up to the starting line for the sheriffs race.
Bob Evans, a four year ' veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department added his name this week to the slate that Rappahannock voters will choose from this November. ’
Nevr to the county, Evans acknowledges that he faces an uphill battle. “I plan to give it a good fight,” said the Slate Mills resident. “If I run this time, my name will get out there. People will get to know me and hopefully, they’ll judge me on my merits next time if I don’t win this go-round.”
After two years of studying police science at California’s College of the Canyons, Evans joined tfie Los Angeles police force. Then four years later, with several members of his family managing Midas Muffler Shops, he was offered a business opportunity with that same franchise in Manassas, “that’s the reason I left police work and I’ve been sorry ever since,” Evans said.
With his wife and two children, he moved to the Prince William city and while visiting friends in Rappahannock, fell in love with the countrywide here. “I couldn’t live in Manassas anymore,’’ he smiled, shaking his head.
