In addition, gusts carried burning embers to a nearby field and started a six acre brush fire, the Amissville fire chief reported. Two more companies, Castleton and Salem, were called to combat the secondary fire while a second Fauquier department was asked to stand by at the Amissville station. "We had everyone in this end of the county committed so there were no fire fighters left to respond if an emergency call came in," James noted.
