Since mid-October, a small group of Rappahannock High School students have been meeting weekly to prepare for their television debut on WVPT in Harrisonburg. They will not be acting, nor will they sing and dance. They will be taking part in the series, “pop quiz,” sponsored by the station and area McDonald’s chain restaurants.
The Rappahannock team will be facing St. Anne’s Belfield School from Charlottesville and their coaches think they’ll be ready. “They’re as wellprepared as they possibly could be,’* said Cindy Wayland who, along with Roger Flinchum, has been conducting weekly afterschool sessions to demonstrate to the students the type of questions that will be asked January 27 when they go on the air. The questions came in rapid-fire fashion last Thursday, read by RCHS teacher Brion Patterson. They are questions copied by Flinchum from broadcasts of Pop Quiz. Some area easy, some are not. The questions test the general world knowledge of students as well as facts remembered from school courses. Money is the basic unit of exchange.
