Classical Spoof
And Opera Two upcoming free programs at Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Winchester span the musical spectrum. The first “Annual” P.D.Q. Bach Festival, a musical spoof featuring works by the least known and most irrelevant son of J.S. Bach, 1807-1742 (sic), will be presented on Saturday, January 29, at 8:30 p.m. in Armstrong Auditorium. The program includes such offerings as selections from “The Betty-Sue Bach Book,” “Fanfare for the Common Cold” for brass quintet, “Grand Serenade for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion” for wind ensemble, and selections from “The Art of the Ground Round” by Shenandoah’s Madrigal Singers. Then on Sunday night, January 30, at 7 p.m. in Armstrong Auditorium, Shenandoah's voice department will present its annual evening at the opera. In addition to the works of Verdi, arias from French and German opera will be included.
