A former Castleton volunteer fireman was given a total of four years in jail and $400 in fines after pleading guilty to a series of misdemeaner and felony arson charges but Circuit Court Judge Shore Robertson suspended both and substituted community service work instead.
Robert Quinton Fincham, 20, of Rixeyville, pleaded guilty on Monday to setting a string of grass fires last March, April and May near the Rappahannock-Culpeper line. His attorney, Washington lawyer Peter Luke, noted that his client was taken the position that a plea agreement was in his best interests and was not admitting his guilt.
The eight counts against Fincham—four misdemeaners and four felonies—arose from eight grass and brush fires set on Highway Department right-of-way and property belonging to Charles Cimmerli, James
