in Virginia is a potential candidate for Silver-Haired legislator. If a resident of Rappahannock decides to run for either the senate or the house, he or she must obtain a petition from the Rappahannock - Rapidan Area Agency on Aging and get signatures from 50 persons aged 60 or older in his or her district. Signed petitions must be returned to the Area Agency on Aging in Culpeper by April 8.
Anyone who is 60 or older may vote in the SilverHaired election, persons need not be registered to vote in regular elections in order to vote in the SilverHaired election. Ballots will be available on request from the Virginia Department for the Aging in April. Ballot request forms will be available from the Area Agency on Aging and will be widely distributed. Ballots must be mailed tb the Virginia Department for the Aging by May 10, and the winners will be announced on May 18.

Keesey Announces
Rappahannock’s first candidate announced this week. Truman J. Keesey of Washington will seek the senatorial seat from the 26th district.
Keesey has extensive experience in the public sector, having worked with the U.S. Public Health Service as a program development specialist, during his assignment to the D.C. Department of Public Health, he wrote and produced some of television’s pioneer health and medical programs in a 13-week series that covered alcoholism, venerial disease, mental health, rehabilitation and family living.
He was also public information officer for the D.C. government and in that capacity, wrote, produced and
