“Look at the language,” Miller said. ‘The ordinance gives them broad authority. They ask us to make a big change in structures, we refuse, they take it to court and they win. We need to have an attorney review this carefully, and we will.”

Private Property Week

Turning the chairmanship of the meeting over to treasurer Brad Fisher, Miller presented a request, from the Piedmont Board of Realtors that April 10 be designated Private Property Week. Hawkins mentioned that clean-up week was tentatively scheduled for April 10 to 16 and that it would fit in nicely with the focus on private property. The proclamation passed.

The Fence At The Inn

C. E. Giles told the Council that he had met with the Inn’s architect and that, after reviewing plans and drawings, he thought that the fence will look much better than people have feared.

“The cement block part will be stuccoed," Giles said. ‘The fence will be hidden by shrubbery and I think it will be fine.”

“It will be beautiful,” said Hawkins. “It will also enhance the value of the neighboring property.”
