At the beginning the board agreed not to discuss controversial items in the budget, specifically salary increase requests of 11%. Responding to a request by Nelson Lane who has missed several of the budget deliberations due to family illness, the board also agreed to table discussion of the capital outlay request of $21,000 until next week.
Adjustments were made in several non-controversial budget items, primarily in fuel costs which are expected to decrease.
Despite arguments by Robert Eastham that members should be allowed to give a short presentation on some of the controversial items, board members voted to adjourn at midnight.
The next meeting, March 22, has been scheduled for adoption of the school operating budget for presentation to the supervisors.
