The crowd at Friday’s informal meeting was divided between those up in the path of the 138 KV line from Luray to the Sperryville substation and those who own property and reside along the second 34.5 KV line that runs from Front Royal to the substation. Landowners on the Front Royal route expressed concern that Potomac Edison will up that line to 138 KVs next.
Guest reported that he’d talked with the Potomac Edison representative in charge of the Sperryville substation and had been told there are no plans for another line between the village and Front Royal for “at least ten years.”
Guest added that the spokesman acknowledged he didn’t know if management at PotEd headquarters in Hagerstown, Md., had in mind any sooner improvement projects on the Front Royal line but agreed to check with that main office. “I guess they have no plans today but they might have plans tomorrow,” Guest said, as landowners continued to question the utility’s assurances. He quickly added, however, that he was “being flip.”
