Jane Golway of Rixeyville will be running for the Silver Haired House of Delegates from the 31st District, which includes northern Culpeper, eastern Fauquier and all of Rappahannock County.
Mrs. Golway has lived in Culpeper County for the past 23 years, and has been very active in planning and providing services for older persons. She is currently President of the Advisory Council to the Rappahannock-Rapidan Area Agency on Aging and also serves on the Advisory Council for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She has been an RSVP volunteer for several years, putting in a great number of volunteer hours teaching GED classes at the Culpeper Correctional Unit and providing transportation for the teacher/counselor from the Department for the. Visually Handicapped, who is himself visually handicapped and unable to drive himself to his clients’ homes.
Mrs. Golway is interested in issues which particularly affect the elderly, but she is also concerned with broader issues, such as conservation and education, which affect everyone. “I hope the Silver Haired Legislature will be one step toward encouraging older people to speak out on such general issues,” she said.
