A Rappahannock couple has come up with the answ er that faces many Rappahannock parents during summer vacation: how are you going to keep the kids happy on the tarm once school has let out?
Pali Delevitt and Freeman Allan looked around at the options and decided there has to be something better than sitting in front of TV. hanging around the house or going off to an ex pensive summer camp. They approached John Dooley, director of the new Northern Virginia 4-H Center just over the mountain in Warren County, with an idea for a cooperative summer camp and he agreed to reserve facilities there from June 1J17 for the experiment.
The Allans propose a week long pilot program for campers in grades one through seven with parents and other interested adults serving as counselors.
They hope to find volunteers willing to teach archery, canoeing, swimming, tennis, arts, crafts, music, dance and nature studies. The 4-H (’enter also has fields for volleyball, baseball and soccer and a court for basketball.
