Del. Raymond R. “Andy" Guest has asked the State Corporation Commission to send a hearing officer to Rappahannock County to investigate charges of misrepresentation lodged against Potomac Edison.

Landowners in the path of the Pot Ed Transmission line running from Luray to the Sperryville substation have complained that utility spokesmen misrepresented the extent of changes involved with.work to upgrade the existing line from 34.5 to 138 kilovolts.

The 34.5 KV line is carried by parallel wires on poles 20 feet high. The 138 KV line (which will increase electrical power available to Rappahannock customers by 1,115 percent) sits atop (50 to 70- foot poles with wires strang one over another at intervals of approximately three feet. The new line also has additional poles, cross bars and bell insulators.
