Sperry ville’s Volunteer Rescue Squad elected new officers at its April 11 meeting.
Serving for the coming year are president Donald Gore, vice-president Carson Johnson, secretary Jody Wingfield, treasurer Kim Burke, captain Steve Leake, lieutenant Ann Speiker and sargeants Cecil Baldwin and Rick Johnson.
Other squad officers are medical advisor Dr. Thomas Flaherty, legal advisor James W. Fletcher III, chaplain Rick Johnson and directors Donald Gore, Jody Wingfield, Kim Burke, Dennis Wingfield and Pete Luke. Delegates to the Rappahannock Fire and Rescue Association will be Steve Leake, Kim Burke and Rick Johnson with Ann Speiker, Nancy Leake and Jody Wingfield serving as alternates.
Trout Stocked
Streams across the Commonwealth will stay open this spring for the first time as the state’s Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries continues its trout stocking operations.
Area waterways scheduled to be stocked during the last two weeks of April include: Big Stoney, Passage and Mill creeks in Shenandoah County; Gooney Run in Warren County; and Garth Run and Hughes River in Madison County.
