For Increase

The Potomac Edison Company has filed its required financial operating review for 1982 with the Virginia State Corporation Commission and, based on that filing, has asked for authority to increase billing to customers by about 2'2 percent.

PE’s filing indicates a revenue deficiency of about $1.5 million based on guidelines established by the SCC in the utility’s last rate case, filed in December, 1981. Those rates, according to Potomac Edison, have not produced the rate of return authorized by the commission in that case, and new tariffs have been filed to prevent that shortfall from continuing.

The proposed new rates would result in a $1.34 monthly increase on the bill of a residential customer using 800 kilowatthours of electricity.
