the two mile run, two seconds behind Ronnie Atkins, his teammate and friendly rival fojv .the top distance runner spot, with Elwood Dodson Jfourth. Atkins and Dodson turned in a twothree performance in the mile run.

The Rappahannock girls did a half point better than the boys, losing to Clarke 63 to 61 with Brentsville far behind at 41.

Cindy Weaver, in her first year of field competition, threw for first in the discus and shot put. She led a sweep of the shot for RCHS with Donna Williams in second and Marie Davis in third. Davis also took second in the discus and Williams fourth. 6

In the track events, Kim Williams flew over the hurdles in 17:2 for first. With the rest of the fast four— Cristol Porter, Raynetta Ghenn and Katheryn Davis—she added to the RCHS tally with first place finishes in the 80(1 and 400 relays.

Porter, Katheryn Davis and Ghenn had an almost sweep of the long jump, finishing second, third and fourth. Porter also carried home second place honors in the high jump and 220 yard run while Gheen and Davis, respectively, were second in the 100 yard dash and fourth in the long jump.
