“We can’t continue to solve every job that’s thrown at us," he said, pointing out that in recent years schools have been expected to place greater emphasis on such subjects as sex education, drug awareness, environmental issues, death and dying.. .
“In the ’60s, the educational emphasis was on feeling good about oneself,” he added, “but now it’s back to the basics.”
