Donkey Ball
The Amissville Puritans’ innaugural donkey ball game will get underway at 7 p.m., Thursday, August 11, at Stuart’s Ball Field in Amissville.
Admission to the first contest of what the club hopes will become an annual event is $2.50 for adults, children under six free. Refreshments will be available at concession stands.
My Favorite Year
Actor Richard Benjamin makes his directorial debut with this charming, original comedy about the early days of live television. The story revolves around the zany relationship between an eccentric screen idol set to appear on a popular tv show and the novice writer assigned to watch over him. My Favorite Year appears at the Gay Street Theater Saturday night at 8:00 and Sunday at 7:00.
RAAC Street Dance
By popular request, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community is sponsoring a street dance on Friday night, September 2, on Gay Street in Washington.
Proceeds from the dance will benefit RAAC projects.
Warren Fair Opens
The Warren County Fair, now in its 26th fun-filled year, will open August 7-13 at the fairgrounds just north of town on Route 522.
SPECTRA Special
Spectra school in Flint Hill is offering a special introductory course weekend August 19-21. Included will be: architectural design and construction (Donald Chandler AIA, architect); communication (Dr. Carolyn Ebel, Georgetown University); sculpture and computer art (Vic Pickett, chairman of the art department at Old Dominion University).
Participants as a group will design and carry out a project of their choice. The course is open to ages 13 and older. Cost of the weekend, which begins 5 p.m. on Friday annd concludes 3 p.m. on Sunday, is $100 with the special rate of $75 for Rappahannock County citizens and RAAC members.
