Asbestos in the high school and elementary school was minimal, mostly gathered around pipes and ducts in the heating system and in the furnace room. The board voted to direct the building maintenance staff to perform recommended corrections. A portion of the report is also to be published in the Rappahannock News for public record. Estabrook said Rappahannock schools were lucky; other systems have been required to “replace voluminous ceilings.”
A third money matter was the setting of fees for the coming school year. School board chairman Beverly Massie said it was “ distressing to us that we have to charge more this year” in the elementary school.
